Allyship
We challenge harmful norms and advance collective accountability because solidarity isn't a statement, it's a practice.
Dance and performance have always been tools of resistance. WADE programs are intentionally designed to create space for dialogue, push against harmful cultural norms, and build the kind of collective accountability that outlasts any single production.
WADE proudly and vocally supports the movements working to end gender-based violence and racial injustice. We are an organization dedicated to upholding the human rights of all women and femme-identifying people across race, ability, socioeconomic status, and religion. We are especially committed to centering those in marginalized communities who bear the greatest cost of systemic oppression. We also stand in firm solidarity with the AAPI community against the discrimination and hate that has been stoked by racist rhetoric. Naming these things out loud is part of the work.
True solidarity means making space — structurally, financially, and physically — for everyone to participate. WADE has built its programs around the belief that access is not a privilege to be earned but a right to be designed for. Our rebalancing payment model lets each person contribute what they genuinely can without granting additional power to those who give more. We offer installment plans, scholarships, and work-study opportunities, none of which require income verification or financial documentation. For every program, we hold an Access Check-In to listen to each participant's specific needs around disability, chronic illness, and neurodiversity, because real accommodation starts with meeting people where they are.
