ChoreoLab is a program within WADE’s Dance HUB curriculum in which students interested in choreographing have the opportunity to create work on their fellow Dance HUB peers and collaborate with musicians/composers on an original score for the piece.

Sarah Messenger, Dance HUB 2021 attendee, Dance HUB 2022 attendee, ChoreoLab 2022 Choreographer, began dancing at age 8 and has had the opportunity to train and work with industry legends such as Ben Vereen, Chet Walker, and Sherry Zunker. In 2008, she earned degrees in Marketing, International Business and Economics from the University of Colorado while performing, teaching and choreographing. Her students have been invited to join companies, training programs, and universities around the world including The Joffrey Ballet, Alvin Ailey Trainee Program, and University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Sarah completed an MFA in Dance and an MA in Dance Education at New York University in May 2021 and premiered her first international work in the summer of 2022 at the Agropoli Danza Festival. Sarah is currently an adjunct with Temple University and dancing with Artist House Dance Company where she is a resident choreographer.

Thank you for tuning into WADEintoACTIVISM.

At WADE we want to remake a world without violence against women and girls.
A world where global communities come together to investigate the deep rooted systemic patriarchal structures that create and normalize this violence.
A world that believes survivors and holds perpetrators accountable for their actions. We believe the performing arts to be the perfect tool to initiate these important conversations and heal the world.

Globally, an estimated 736 million women—almost one in three—have been subjected to physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence, non-partner sexual violence, or both at least once in their life (30 per cent of women aged 15 and older). Emerging data from a new UN Women study confirms that the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a shadow pandemic of violence against women (Source: UN Women).

Statistically, you or someone you know currently is or has been a victim of gender-based violence.
