WADEintoACTIVISM Festival Performance: Poetry Slam hosted by Xuly Williams

Calling all women-identifying poets!
The WADEintoACTIVISM Festival is looking for twelve (12) poets* for their inaugural Poetry Slam event to be held at Arts on Site (12 St. Marks Place) on Saturday, December 9th.
Six poets will compete at the 6:30pm show in three rounds ending with one winner.
The next six poets will compete at the 8:30pm show in three rounds ending with one winner. The two winners will compete over two rounds at the end of the 8:30pm show. Final winner will receive a special prize and host the closing night of the WADEIntoACTIVISM Festival on Sunday 12/10 at the Tank (312 West 36th Street) @ 4:00-5:00pm.
*All poets need to be available on Saturday, December 9th from 5:00pm to 10:00pm.
Please read the rules below carefully before applying.
Rules:
topic of poems must be around women's issues/identity/discrimination/empowerment;
poet must perform their own material; breaking this rule will cause the poet to be disqualified;
no props, costumes, musical instruments; breaking this rule will cause the poet to be disqualified;
each poem must be no longer than 3 minutes from the moment the poet starts speaking with a grace period of 10 seconds; each 10 seconds will accrue a .50 point deduction;
if the time reaches 3:30 the poet will be disqualified;
three judges chosen randomly from the audience by the host will score each poem on a scale of 0 to 10; the three scores will be added to give poets their score;
the two lowest scores will be eliminated after each round;
scores are cumulative, added after each round;
the first round will play out in the order poets are drawn; second and third, poets perform in order from highest to lowest.
